In short: our map has 380 veterinary pharmacies with a known position — outlets dispensing medicines for animals, plus 814 pharmacies from the list of pharmacies authorised by ANSVSA, the national veterinary authority (9 July 2025), without a position on the map — in 509 localities. The list is not complete: the official register of the College of Veterinarians (CMV) also contains units without coordinates — 1,478 results for a pharmacy search; you can find them in the veterinary register (in Romanian). For 73 towns (those with at least 3 veterinary pharmacies, including at least one on the map or at least 5 from the ANSVSA list) we have dedicated pages, with address, phone and opening hours; the other localities appear in the grid below. A veterinary pharmacy dispenses deworming products, parasite treatments and supplements freely, while antibiotics and injectable treatments need a vet's prescription. Data from OpenStreetMap (ODbL) and from the official websites of some pet shop chains, refreshed weekly — last updated: .

Please note: do not give human medicines to animals and do not start a treatment without a vet's advice — many human substances and doses are toxic to dogs and cats. The opening hours shown come from OpenStreetMap and may be out of date: call ahead.

What it is

What a veterinary pharmacy does

A veterinary pharmacy is an outlet authorised to dispense veterinary medicinal products for pets and farm animals: internal and external deworming, parasite treatments, vaccines (under a vet's supervision), supplements, dietary food and consumables. Unlike a pharmacy for people, the range is adapted to each species — doses and substances differ, and some human medicines are toxic to dogs and cats.

In Romania, most veterinary pharmacies operate inside a vet clinic, where the vet can prescribe and give the treatment on the spot. That is why in the grid below each outlet links to the detail page of the clinic or the shop, and for emergencies you can look directly for the vet nearest to you.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ · veterinary pharmacies

  1. What is a veterinary pharmacy?
A veterinary pharmacy is an outlet authorised to dispense veterinary medicinal products — deworming, parasite treatments, supplements, medicated food and, on prescription, treatments for pets and farm animals. Many operate inside a vet clinic, where the vet can prescribe and give the treatment on the spot.
  2. How many towns have veterinary pharmacy pages?
We have dedicated pages for 73 towns — those with at least 3 veterinary pharmacies with a position on the map. The map has 380 such locations, in 509 localities; all of them appear in the grid above, and smaller towns link to the general page of the locality. The list is not complete: the official register of the College of Veterinarians (CMV) also contains units without coordinates — 1,478 results for a pharmacy search. You can find them in the veterinary register (in Romanian).
  3. Do veterinary pharmacies dispense medicines without a prescription?
Some products (external parasite treatments, supplements, dietary food) are sold freely; antibiotics and injectable treatments need a prescription and a vet's recommendation. Do not use human medicines on animals without the vet's advice — doses differ and can be dangerous. See also the pet care guide on vaccination, deworming and first aid.
