In short: HartaFarmacii calculates the “open/closed” status live, in Romanian time, for 4,678 pharmacies with known hours (out of 8,928 indexed nationwide). The status is available on dedicated pages for 129 towns — each with at least 5 pharmacies with published hours — and 128 of them also have a separate page of pharmacies open on Sunday (those where at least one pharmacy has a Sunday rule in its hours). Sources of the hours: OpenStreetMap (ODbL) and the official websites of the pharmacy chains. Actual hours may differ on public holidays — call before you set off, especially at night.

Data verified on from public sources (OpenStreetMap, chain websites, ANM/MS) — updated daily.

Methodology

How we calculate the live status

For every pharmacy with published hours, we keep the timetable in a structured format (days + time slots, the OpenStreetMap opening_hours standard). When you open a town's page, we compare the current time in Romania (Europe/Bucharest) — correctly across the summer/winter time change too — with each pharmacy's time slots and show three groups: open now (sorted by closing time, so you see first where you still have time), 24/7 and closed (with the time and day they open). The calculation runs on every visit — the pages are not frozen in a cache.

We do not invent data: if a pharmacy has not published its hours, it does not appear in the lists — which is why some towns are missing for now. Coverage grows as OpenStreetMap and the chains' websites fill in. For pharmacies open permanently there are the dedicated 24/7 and on-duty pharmacies pages, and for towns where at least one pharmacy has a Sunday rule in its published hours you will also find the “open on Sunday” version — the day with the most wasted trips to the pharmacy.

Call before you set off. Declared hours may be out of date, especially on public holidays or where rotating duty rotas coordinated by the College of Pharmacists apply. Each pharmacy's phone number is shown right in the list — a 30-second call saves a wasted trip.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ · pharmacies open now

  1. How does HartaFarmacii calculate the “open now” status?
For 4,678 pharmacies in Romania we have structured opening hours (source: OpenStreetMap + the chains' websites). Each time a town page is opened, we compare the current time in Romania (Europe/Bucharest) with each pharmacy's time slots and show the status: open (and until when), 24/7, or closed (and when it opens). Nothing is pre-calculated or frozen in a cache.
  2. Which towns have “pharmacies open now” pages?
For 129 towns with at least 5 pharmacies with known hours — the full list is above. Of these, 128 also have a separate page with the pharmacies open on Sunday — the rest do not yet have any pharmacy with a Sunday rule in its published hours.
  3. Why is my town not on the list?
Because too few pharmacies in your town have published their hours in our sources (OpenStreetMap + the chains' websites). Coverage is growing all the time. In the meantime, you can check the full pharmacy map or the 24/7 pharmacies page for your county.
  4. What if no pharmacy is open any more?
Look for the nearest 24/7 pharmacy on the dedicated 24/7 page — big cities always have at least one. In small localities the rotating duty rota coordinated by the College of Pharmacists applies; the duty schedule is posted at the entrance of every pharmacy. In a real medical emergency, call 112.
